Of course, right after making that statement I also stated that the city always had three wells, and do not get me wrong, that the free water from Huachuca Mountains is a great asset to the city.

Easier Said Than Done: Giving soldier-centered care

Pat Wick

The Sierra Vista Herald/Bisbee Daily Review

This is a military town and we have a reporter who covers Fort Huachuca news and he does it well.

Additionally, this newspaper publishes a lot of news about local nonprofits. However, the subject of Fort Huachuca and the nonprofits that provide for unforeseen or emergency needs of soldiers and their families are usually published during the holidays.

And the response to those holiday needs is always generous. Or as Josephine Moore, of the Chaplain’s office says: “Sierra Vista is the ‘givingest’ community we’ve ever seen.”

Faulkner says partnership is key

Adam Curtis

Herald/Review

While it’s common knowledge that the city’s vitality is heavily reliant on Fort Huachuca, the reverse is also true. The post’s future depends not only on the relevance of its missions, but also the attractiveness of the community that lies outside of its gates.

That’s why Garrison Commander Col. Timothy Faulkner viewed the invitation to have a dialogue with the Sierra Vista City Council and staff during last week’s budget retreat as an important opportunity to talk about partnerships.
